Bryan Papierski has a well-earned reputation as an
innovative director, talented cameraman and knowledgeable instructor.
|
Born the same year that the Detroit
tigers won the World Series for the first time, Papierski literally "grew up" in the business.
His parents' company, Artistic Studios, located in Detroit created sets for corporations,
presentations, trade shows, commercials and infomercials. His talent and experience enabled
him to attend Detroit's College for Creative Studies as a dual-enrollment student, which earned
him 12 college credits by the time he was a junior. His senior year was spent at Interlochen Center
for the Arts, a performance and design boarding high school, where he studied photography, sculpture
and computer programming.
|
|
In 1992, Papierski became one of the youngest students to graduate from the Art Center College for
Creative Design film program. He was awarded 9th term honors, but chose instead to shoot a
35mm feature. His reel quickly earned him representation a Director/DP by The Directors Network
(Los Angeles), Kuni and Associates (Japan), Apple Box (Canada) AFI (Florida), and Whitewater (Boston). |
Upon his return to Michigan, Papierski co-founded Compass Arts a non-profit
production company (with an annual budget of $2m) creating commercials, and long-form promotional films for non-profit
organizations traditionally unable to afford campaigns with high production value.
|
A genuine communicator with a keen eye for detail, Papierski's credits include hundreds of campaign and
single spots, which have earned him numerous awards, including a Clio, ADDY Best of Show, Gold, Silver, Honorable
Mention, and Telly Best in Category, Plantinium & Gold. His independent work has also earned him recognition from
the New York International Film Festival.
